2011 Telethon Regional Home at Oyster Harbour by W.A.Country Builders Albany sells prior to auction!

The 2001 Telethon Regional Home sold prior to auction on the Telethon 2011 Weekend for $465,000 and is located at Lot 750 Grenfell Drive, Bayonet Head, Albany

Albany is a coastal town at the Southern End of Western Australia and as the land is undulating most people here can get an inlet, river or ocean view so it isn’t surprising that the new Telethon charity home the Mira Mar is overlooking the landscaped lakes of Oyster Harbour.

To request that a land developer of housing estates donate a block of land is a really big ask, but Brian Newman of Heath Developments didn’t need to be asked twice.  He went to the Oyster Harbour Joint Venture members Heath Developments and the Department of Housing and they agreed to help so we were off and running.

The Home:

This 4 double bedroom home is designed for entertaining with a capital E as the alfresco area is huge with Batu decking and great integration with the family living areas.

The cosy sitting room is close to the living areas but far enough away to be a haven from the busy clatter of family life and the corner windows make this stylish room light and bright.

A home that really works on so many levels as the parents’ bedroom is large enough for a seating area and it is served by a heated ensuite bathroom, the children have spacious double bedrooms each with huge robes and room for the biggest beds.

The laundry comes complete with the biggest linen cupboards and has garden as well as garage access. The double garage is well integrated with the home and doesn’t detract from the stone clad front elevation.

This home is an unusual shape with lots of interesting angles and nooks and with high raked ceilings linking the free form living room with the alfresco this home will never feel stuffy.

The Builder:

WA Country Builders in Albany have already had a fantastic response to their appeal for suppliers and trades people to help them construct the 2011 Regional Telethon home.

Rod Harris announced that we had been chosen to build the latest Telethon Home at a Chamber of Commerce After Hours Business Function and as soon as it was mentioned eager business people were clamouring to be included and offering the their services.

The people of Albany have never been slow to offer their help to a good cause and WA Country Builders have a great rapport with their trades men and women so when they ask for help for yet another great charity home no one steps back, they show what country togetherness really means.

Before WA Country Builder’s Trish Flynn, Graham Sivwright and Rod Harris had left the room they were promised pest control, the concrete slab, advertising, art work, a fashion show, a photographic exhibition, scaffolding, windows, landscaping, artificial lawns, a survey, and insulation so when the letters go out next week they will have already made a great start.
